Every time a player in mentioned as being a possibility for the Bucs, in addition to looking at the skill set and need and everything else related to the player, I also look at the size of his contract and how much money he’ll cost. And then I phrase it like, “Oh, he’d be cheap to get” or something like that. Like when we were discussing Anquan Boldin back when there was a small glimmer of hope that the Bucs would make a move for him, we talked about the draft compensation but also how much he would cost. “He’s going to want a big contract” is something I was told a couple times by readers, and I’d sit back and speculate if he was worth it. And I have to tell you, I am so sick to death of worrying about someone else’s money.
