Watching Video So You Don’t Have To

Several new Buccaneer-related videos have been posted in the last day or two, but there are absolutely no tits or explosions or car chases in any of them, so I’m still trying to figure out what the point of releasing them was and why they didn’t just distribute the information they contained through a memo or something. But I went ahead and watched them, and now I’ll tell you the interesting stuff so you can get absorb it and get in with your life, such as it is.
The Bucs posted a new edition of their “Insider” videos, which are all pretty well done. In four minutes or so, you get a brief update on what’s going on in the OTAs and a player interview or two. This one covers Barrett Ruud’s role in the new “aggressive” defense, Demar Dotson’s switch from right tackle to left tackle (and sometimes tight end), Raheem Morris’s disturbing nickname for Rendrick Taylor: “The Big, Thick Clemson”. You tell me that’s not the title of the top renting porn tape in South Carolina. Too bad Taylor didn’t play for the Gamecocks.
Another official Buccaneer video is Morris’s press conference after Wednesday’s OTA. And I gotta tell you, Morris is progressing by leaps and bounds in handling these. He calls out reporters for asking the same questions over and over again, he answers questions directly and without too much coachspeak, and I don’t think I heard a single “you’re talking about”. In this one, the big revelation is he admits that practice habits slipped last season. He also reveals the theme for the defense this season: Score or get the ball back. Also, when asked about Barrett Ruud, Morris says “I can’t say enough good things about Barrett Ruud.” Which is good for the Bucs since words are cheap. Note to Ruud’s agent: You may want to start keeping track of all these compliments and kudos. They may come in handy during contract negotiations next year.
And finally, via Joe Bucs Fan, we have a video of lots of shirtless men with their spears and rods. Josh Freeman, Xavier Fulton, Sabby Piscitelli, Maurice Stovall and Sammie Stroughter all hung out on a boat in the Bahamas earlier this year, where they did a good amount of snorkeling and some of them even caught crabs.
What?
