College Players Visiting One Buc
Published: March 30th, 2009By Bucstats.com

According to Rick Stroud and a couple others, here are some of the players coming in for personal workouts before the draft.
Chris Baker, DT, Hampton
Bulky guy who was kicked off of Penn State for getting arrested too often. I heard he only got good when he went to Hampton where the competition was bad.
Ron Brace, DT, Boston College
Excellent pocket-collapser. But he’s looking more like a second rounder, which the Bucs don’t have.
Maurice Crum, Jr., LB, Notre Dame
I have never heard of this guy before. I know he wasn’t at the combine.
Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said a babillion times: This is not the year to take a quarterback with a first round pick.
Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
He may actually still be there for the Bucs, which would be sweet. They have other more pressing needs, but Harvin’s versatility might be hard to pass up.
Darius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
No. This guy has bust written all over him.
Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
Same with Johnson. He may flash Simeon Rice now and then, but he has yet to put a full game of effort on the field.
Taurus Johnson, WR, South Florida
I have no idea. I assume he’s being looked at as a seventh round flyer or free agent and is getting the visit because he’s just down the road.
Terrance Knighton, DT, Temple
I heard he’s big (6-3, 321) but very raw.
Louis Murphy, WR, Florida
If the Bucs don’t take a receiver in the first and Murphy is available in the third, I’d snag him. He’d be a great value in the third. His pro day was fantastic.
B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College
Raji will be long gone before #19. I don’t know why the Bucs are bothering.
Jason Williams, LB, Western Illinois
Who the fuck are these people?!?
Obviously not all these guys are first round considerations, but man… I consider myself pretty up-to-speed on the college prospects, but four of these players I had either never heard of or had just caught wind of in passing. It’s funny that there is so much speculation that the Glazers are in financial trouble, but they’re spending a couple thousand dollars bringing in players for a visit that will either be available in the seventh round or won’t be there by #19.
Also notice that there are no cornerbacks on the list. It’s a position of some concern, so I’d expect to see Mark Dominick to bring in at least a couple to kick their tires. Maybe the list is incomplete and they have already scheduled a cornerback visit. Or maybe they already know who they want and don’t need to bring them in. Or maybe they’ll deal with the vacancy in free agency and are just waiting around to sign their guy for no good fucking reason whatsoever. We all know that Dre Bly and Chris McAlister are warm bodies that can be signed at any time, right?
I’ll post anything I hear about how the visits go.
