Jagz Says The Right Things (Mostly)
Published: February 17th, 2009By Bucstats.com

Jagz made his first public comments as a Buccaneer to the press today and they pretty much covered all the bases. You can read the whole thing here. Basically…
- Zone blocking is a go.
- He loves Earnest Graham.
- He plans to use tight ends “a bunch”.
- He plans to get Clifton Smith involved in the passing game.
- When talking about putting Joey Galloway and Antonio Bryant on the field at the same time, he said “We can get anybody to play together.” I still don’t fully understand why Jon Gruden didn’t get this.
- He likes Luke McCown, but refrained from offering a huge vote of confidence.
- Terminology will be less complicated. This was almost a given.
- Prefers to coach from press box.
He didn’t really discuss his Boston College exit, except to say he doesn’t have any regrets. Of course he has to say that, but he didn’t get the job he was seeking when he disobeyed orders, and now he’s an offensive coordinator for an NFL team instead of a head coach of a college team. The way he left that situation still bugs me, but I’ve always been one to respect the chain o’ command. Raheem Morris better hope that some high profile college head coaching job doesn’t open up while Jagz is under contract.
Overall, I like what he had to say and am looking forward to a more open offense. Next to what we saw with Jeff Garcia and Brian Griese behind center, I suppose ANYTHING qualifies as more wide open, but it’s refreshing to hear a coordinator talk about emphasizing the endzone and power running. Sign Bryant.
