Bucs Finish Preseason On High Note

Completing what would be a 3-1 postseason, the Bucs defeated the Houston Texans, 16-6 on Thursday night. Every single starter was rested.
Brian Griese did not play, meaning that he will more than likely be the backup quarterback. Luke McCown did play, and was 5/5 for 52 yards. Chris Simms, in perhaps his last game as a Buccaneer, was 9/15 for 71 yards and one interception. Josh Johnson was 8/13 for 85 yards.
The biggest plays came not from the offense, but from the defense and special teams. Geno Hayes nabbed an interception, Eugene Wilson had a sack, and Dexter Jackson returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown.
Matt Bryant made 3 field goals, but missed a 54 and 36 yarder. He is 7-for-12 this postseason, and is drawing concerns, missing field goals of 36 and 23 yards coming into the game.
The worst news of the night is that Sabby Piscitelli left the game with a knee sprain. Although it doesn’t appear to be serious, the poor guy just can’t catch a break.
The Bucs can look at the preseason as a high note when the regular season rolls around. Although sloppy at times, the Bucs more or less looked like a team ready to repeat as division champs.
