“Choke It To Death”

That’s what Jeff Garcia wants to do to his starting quarterback position: choke it to death. To be accurate, Garcia said that he is the starter, and he’s “going to choke it to death until somebody pulls my grip off of it.”

With all of the Brett Favre rumors swirling around, Garcia is getting defensive about his job.

“If (Favre) comes in, as much as the accolades are huge on that side, I’m the starting quarterback, and it’s going to be a battle,” Garcia said.

Garcia is looking forward to starting for the same team for the second consecutive year, since his days in San Francisco. Likewise, the Bucs are excited that they don’t have to implement a new quarterback. Or do they?

“Jeff Garcia is our starting quarterback. We’re in the fourth day of training camp, and we want to play a lot better football than we did last season,” Jon Gruden said.

Garcia’s opinion?

“He loves quarterbacks. But he likes to just date. He doesn’t like to marry,” Garcia said about Gruden.

While the Bucs support Garcia, it will be up to management to deal with the Favre issue. Experts are saying that it is more than likely that Favre will stay with Green Bay, at least for now. However, they are also saying that the Bucs are the best team for Favre. Garcia is still dealing with a contract dispute, but he has been attending camp.
