Bucs Linebackers Got Elected To The College Football Hall Of Fame

Holy Trojans, Batman! Richard Wood received a call on his cell phone telling him he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. He thought it was a fake.
A few months ago, as Richard Wood and son Marlon were leaving a sub shop in Tampa, Fla., Wood's cell phone rang. His caller ID displayed an unfamiliar number, and the voice on the other end was that of a stranger. The person on the other line claimed to be a representative of the College Football Hall of Fame, and his message was one Wood didn't immediately believe.
"I said, 'Who is this? Stop playing with me,'" Wood said. "I thought it was somebody joking around."
But it was true, no foolin'. Wood played for John McKay at USC, was a three time All-American and won two national championships. Then he came to the Bucs and lost his next 26 games. But, hey, I'll bet those national championships were cool.
Jeff Davis will also be enshrined this year in recognition for his outstanding work at Clemson. Davis was an All-American for the 1981 Clemson team that won the national championship and one time had a 24 tackle game. Then the poor guy spent 1982-1987 with the Bucs and left football after that. Who can blame him? The ineptitude of the first two Buccaneer seasons pale in comparison to the unmitigated shittiness of the 1985-1986 seasons. Davis is currently working for Clemson, so he's still surrounded by orange.
If you can make it to South Bend this weekend, you can watch Wood and Davis get enshrined along with Doug Flutie, Ahmad Rashad, John Randle and a bunch of other guys whose names aren't important to you. Oh, Joe Paterno is getting enshrined, too, so you young punks need to turn that damn music down while he's talking.
