Other Teams May Wants Simms, Too

According to Pro Football Weekly, the Lions and the Bears in addition to the Cowboys are all interested in Chris Simms.

Reports recently surfaced that the Cowboys were interested in trading for Simms to make him a backup to Tony Romo. Sources tell PFW the Bears and Lions have shown interest in acquiring the fifth-year veteran, as well. Word is there's a good chance Simms will be with another team around the time training camp begins.

If it's true, it's good news for the Bucs. If no one else was interested in Simms, the Cowboys could just wait until the Bucs eventually released him. Now there's some decent trade potential. Nothing to get too excited about, you understand. I'm hearing some hope out there that the Bucs could get a second rounder for him, but that's just silly. More likely a fourth or fifth rounder is what he's really worth. But if anyone can get a steal for him, it's Bruce Allen.

Anwar Richardson thinks it's time to let him go, apparently for humanitarian reasons.

The worst thing is to proudly send a message to Simms that he will only be moved when Tampa Bay says so. Simms could have been traded on draft day, but the longer Tampa Bay holds on to him, his odds of learning another playbook and contributing to another team this season decreases. There is no need to be perceived as a team trying to hurt Simms' career by holding on to him.

Allen is, above all other things, a business man. He's not going to hold on to Simms only out of spite and if he got a decent offer for Simms tomorrow, he'd take it. But that's not to say that he's isn't getting some satisfaction out of keeping him on the roster while he waits for the offer. Hey, Simms is the one who made this personal. Now, like Jeff Garcia, he may have to wait a little longer to get what he wants.

So, which is worse? Losing the snap under center or having your friends initials tattooed on your ankle?
