Derrick Brooks confesses that one life-changing experience in his youth is when, in fifth grade, he was being a class clown and his father showed up to his school and spanked him in the middle of class.

"My dad, he warned me about being a class clown," Brooks said. "I kind of called his bluff and he showed up at the school one day as I was being a class clown and he whipped me right there in front of my class. The moral of the story that he taught me was no matter how good of grades I made, and I always made my grades, that it didn't matter if I didn't know how to treat people and if I didn't have respect for others."

"My dad loved me enough to do that and get me on the right path in terms of respect and how you treat others," he said. "It shaped the moral fiber of who I am."

It also shaped his ass fibers into the shape of his dad's hand for a week or so. Damn, a spanking that lasts a lifetime? I'm doing something wrong. The last time I took one of my kids over my knee, he was playing his PSP the whole time. I was trying to tell him that it was for his own good, but he had the headphones in, so I don't think he was getting the message.

Do you like how the picture is of Brooks looking as menacing as he possibly can, but he still puts the smiley face inside his signature?
