I’ll Give You Something To Cry About

Jeff Garcia went on Sirius Radio yesterday and continued his bitching about how he isn't appreciated by the Buccaneers and how he doesn't like coming to work anymore and how he may just have to retire if he doesn't get what he wants. Here is a photographic depiction of the interview:

Notice how Jeff is surrounded by toys and is being generally pampered, but still is throwing a huge tantrum.
"If it doesn't work itself out, if a contract is not presented as far as a renewal to finish my career, then I will seriously think about what my alternate options may be. And it may come to not playing football anymore."
Then don't play. Christ, why not just threaten to hold your breath until you turn blue? But it will cost you half your signing bonus from last year because you'll be treated just like Jake Plummer who retired while still under contract. So instead of getting an extension and a raise, you'll have to cough up $1.5 million to not play. And since it's quite clear that you're all about the money, I'm pretty sure you won't be taking that route. It's an empty threat.
"I feel like when you mistreat people there comes a time when it doesn't matter how much you are paid, it's going to lead to some drastic decisions."
Oh, fuck you, douche. Mistreated? Go ahead and say "disrespected" or "ignored by management" or even "lied to" if you think that's what really happened. But unless Bruce Allen punches you in the balls every day before practice, you're not being mistreated. You signed the contract! If you are being mistreated, it's only because you agreed to be. Fucking drama queen. That was the statement that made me stop caring about what happens to Jeff Garcia.
"It would be really difficult to go through this season and not have something done before the season," Garcia said. "I would like to see the appreciation put out there."
Is a bookie going to break your legs if you don't come up with a few million next week or something? Because I seem to recall that Bruce Allen was going to get some extensions done prior to training camp, which starts at the end of July. I can't imagine what could possibly be so urgent that you need to have it done today. You've got a hot wife, a new baby, and a job playing a game. How about you just cool out for a while and let other people like Allen and your agent do their jobs, eh?
"I do believe that if I step away and let a contract to be a problem, an issue, a distraction, then I'm not going to grow within the system the way I need to grow," Garcia said. "So I just battle through it. There are days I'm not as excited to be there, I'll be honest."
Yeah, that's a shame. By the way, I know what I want for Father's Day now. A Luke McCown jersey.
