Williams Making Progress in OTA’s

Williams

For Bucs fans that want Cadillac Williams to be a part of the running attack in 2008, the good news is he’s been at the voluntary OTA’s recently.  While he may be pushed on the Physically Unable to Perform List, he still may have a part on the team this season if he can come back from the injury last season that forced him to miss most of the year.  “It’s a long progress, but I’ve come a long way,” he said. “Earlier on, there were bumps in the road. But now, things are starting to smooth out. I’m starting to do things on the field, a little cutting here and there. I’m just taking it day by day, just continuing to work and seeing how the process goes. We’re going to make a decision in July and take it from there.”

Cadillac Williams has been seen around the voluntary OTA’s lately. He hasn’t been doing major workouts, but he remains optimistic about his future.

GM Allen addresses Garcia, Graham

General manager Bruce Allen took a few minutes following Wednesday's workout to address talks regarding the contracts of quarterback Jeff Garcia, running back Earnest Graham and others.

Garcia has been outspoken about the lack of progress on talks for a contract extension and even hinted Tuesday he could miss some off-season practices. He has one year left on his contract that includes a $2-million base salary.

Other People Were At The OTA, Too

With Jeff Garcia's successful media whore job yesterday, it's easy to forget that other stuff happened, too.

Brian Griese said he's happy to be back in Tampa.

"I know what kind of organization this is and know how they handle their business, but I did have to give [Gruden] a little a bit [a grief]," said Griese with a chuckle.

Buc News: Haye Signs, Garcia Whines, Griese trys

DT Jovan Haye has finally signed his one year contract reports the St. Pete Times.

Haye signed a one year deal for $2 million bucks. He's coming off a breakout season in which he had 6 sacks. I really liked Haye, he seemed to get better as the season went on and he has a fun flare to his personality. Hopefully DE Greg White looks at Haye's contract and follows suit. Neither have the experience or track record to demand much of a pay increase or years....

Jeff Garcia Is Not As Bitchy As I Thought

Published: May 14th, 2008
By Bucstats.com weblog

Yesterday in part of my rambling about Jeff Garcia's contract, I called him a whiny little bitch because he wouldn't stand up and take a position on whether he was going to hold out for a new contract or not. That's because the story in the times didn't contain this little nugget:

Garcia Wants To Get Paid, Haye Signs Tender

Published: May 14th, 2008

The Buccaneers have a contract dispute on their hands involving quarterback Jeff Garcia.  The Pro Bowler says he’s still not happy about his contract which pays him two-million-dollars in base salary this season.  That’s well below the salary of big time starting quarterbacks in the NFL.  Garcia expressed his continued unhappiness yesterday at the team’s OTA workouts and did not rule out a holdout at some point.  In other team news, defensive tackle Jovan Haye signed his one-year tender offer for about two-million-dollars.  Haye was a restricted free agent and played well last season with six sacks.

Off Topic: If you had to pick a Next Gen Video Game System

For all the gamers out there, which Next Gen Video Game System would you purchase if you could between the XBox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii? Obviously the Wii graphically doesnt belong in this discussion (and it takes a knock for not having Grand Theft Auto IV as a Gaming option), but I'm just curious as to which system folks would purchase out of the three listed above.

Garcia vs. Bruce: who blinks first?

Published: May 13th, 2008

The more I think about this Jeff Garcia contract dispute, the more difficult it becomes to guess how it will end.

He clearly is peeved about the situation as we told you earlier today. And there are still more comments that you can read tomorrow in the newspaper (or online, if you prefer), like this very telling statement about how this might potentially affect things on the field for him and others, like Earnest Graham.

A quick Cadillac update

With all of Jeff Garcia's drama today, I failed to mention that we ran into Cadillac Williams who is still working toward returning to the lineup after last season's devastating patellar tendon tear.

Williams isn't backing off his stated goal of participating in training camp in some capacity, even though he remains a long way from gaining medical clearance to take the field.
