The Saints Have Had Better Weeks

So, just a couple months after Dan Morgan signed a free agent deal with New Orleans, he decides that 150 concussions is probably enough and -- does anyone else hear that ringing? -- retires. I'm not sure how much the Saints were counting on him to contribute seeing as how he was injured for almost as many games as he played (played 59, out 53 since 2001.) But at the very least he provided some depth and experience at linebacker.
Now, Charles Grant has been indicted for involuntary manslaughter.
Grant, who was stabbed in the neck during the fracas, was charged by an Early County grand jury that also charged Laquient Macklin with felony murder and feticide in the shooting death of Korynda Reed, 23. Reed died after being taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, after the fight early Feb. 3.
I had to look up "feticide" because I really had no idea. Yeah, not a nice way to start off your day. And a black man in Early County, GA is charged with it? Folks down there stopped buying new calendars in 1962. Grant should take a good, long look at his friend now because he's going to be harder to recognize with all the feathers stuck to him later.
Chances are this is going to go to court sometime in the late summer. If Grant is found guilty, he'll surely get some jail time and be suspended by the league for at least half the year. His 2008 season is most likely forfeited. You know you fucked up when you're looking to Leonard Little for inspiration and legal advice. Man, what else can go wrong in New Orleans? Oh, right.
