Bucs Will Have Interest in DE Justin Smith

The 49′ers appear that they will have some competition for Bengals DE Justin Smith when he hits the open market.  Today’s St.Petersburg Times is reporting that the Bucs are also interested in Smith, who over his seven year NFL career has played in all but one game.  Smith last season had two sacks, but which is a career low, but before last season had averaged about 7 sacks per season.  The team started getting younger last season on the D-line, and at 29 Smith would fit the mold of the type of players the Bucs want to add to upgrade the defense.  It was reported yesterday from sources that San Fran also would like to sign Smith when he’s free.
