Super Bowl XLIII Logo: “A Little Wimpy”

The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year. I am elated that this upcoming year, Super Bowl XLIII will be held in Tampa, Florida, at Raymond James Stadium, home to my Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While looking at the new logo for XLIII, one word comes to mind: crappy. Isn’t the logo supposed to display something about the city? Or how about some grit and determination, something this game is? Instead, someone just photoshopped blue and green letters, and the result is uninspiring. It’s a laughable logo, one that I won’t remember in years down the road. Remember the 2003 Super Bowl logo? It was in San Diego that year, and the logo was juxtaposed with a lighthouse. Very neat, and very memorable. This year I just laugh and pity poor Tampa. The city deserves something better, as does NBC, who will host the event for the first time in a long time.
