Super Sunday Revisited

It’s hard to believe its been 5 years since the Bucs were in the Super Bowl. But I remember it like it was yesterday.

The Bucs were huge underdogs. Relying almost solely on defense, the argument about “Who wins games, defense or offense?” was thrown around constantly. The Bucs had the defense. The Raiders had the offense, led by NFL MVP, Rich Gannon. The Raiders were almost instantly crowned champions. Even People magazine did a feature about their fans! That didn’t stop the Bucs fans from believing. I didn’t care that everyone was rooting for the Raiders. I always liked the underdog role, and my team was playing it on the biggest stage of all.

We all know the story. We all know what happened. Defense wins games, as the Bucs pounded the Raiders to earn their first Super Bowl. It’s hard to believe its been 5 years, 1825 days. The Bucs aren’t in the Super Bowl this year, but there’s always hope for the future.
