Welcome to the first annual Atop the Crow’s Nest Awards show! The inaugural award will be presented to the Buccaneers Special Teams Player of the Year, the man who was most outstanding when it came to special teams play.

And the Atop the Crow’s Nest Award for Special Teams Player of the Year goes too:

Micheal Spurlock!

Okay, so in a very close vote with kicker Matt Bryant, Micheal Spurlock edged out Mr. 62. The award was in Bryant’s name for most of the season, but the sheer fact that Spurlock ended 32 years of frustration, earned himself the award. For 32 years the Bucs had a monkey on their back, never scoring a touchdown on a kickoff. It only took 1,500 kickoffs, but on that magical number, Spurlock raced 90 yards up the sideline to toss the monkey off of Tampa’s back. Congratulations, Mr. Spurlock!
