Trash talk roundup

You might have noticed that we didn't really see much on this blog about the smattering of mild trash talk between the Giants and Bucs this week. That's largely because we didn't see what the big deal was.

But, needless to say, that stuff got a whole lot of play up in New York, where Ronde Barber's comments in the New York Post early last week sparked several comebacks from the Giants. Barber was quoted as saying, Manning "can be had," which we all know to be true anyway.

Manning didn't really respond, but several Giants did, including Plaxico Burress. He said Barber should think less about Manning and more about Burress.

"I don't think he needs to worry about No. 10," Burress told the New York Daily News. "He needs to worry about No.17."

That, of course, would be Burress.

"For me, I love it," Burress said. "Ronde says (Manning) is inconsistent and hasn't played well of late? When we get down there on Sunday, we'll see how good he really plays. It's going to be warm, it's going to be nice, and we're going to throw the ball around a little bit and make some plays."

Well, there you have it. Pretty soon, none of this nonsense will even matter. It's almost time for kickoff.
