Ronde Talks Some Smack

On Wednesday, Ronde Barber made a comment on his radio show about who he would like to play for the wildcard game.

"Of course we want to play the Giants. They [win] ugly, Shockey's hurt and Eli has been inconsistent."

The article has a bunch of reactions to the quote, most of them being pretty benign. Brandon Jacobs's reply was interesting, though.

"They haven't been winning so pretty, either. There's only one Patriots."

True enough. Even though I don't approve of bulletin board material for the opponent, I don't think Ronde's comment is going to have much of an effect. It wasn't one of those really biting things that insulted the team's manhood. Everyone is playing pretty inconsistently but the Bucs aren't coming off the huge emotional drain of playing an undefeated team in prime time. The Giants are treating it like it was great preparation and a big confidence builder, but how can you get that up for a game two weeks in a row?
