Matt Bryant Wins Award That He Never Should Have Had The Chance To Win

God love Matt Bryant, that bald midget with the Steve Austin leg (not this Steve Austin, this Steve Austin. What are you, twelve?) If it wasn't for him, the Buccaneers would probably not be in the playoffs. Those four field goals against Washington and two against New Orleans cemented Tampa Bay's spot. Seriously, he's a huge weapon.

In December, Bryant went 10 for 11 in field goals and won the Special Teams Player of the Month award, which I assume comes with a plague and a ham. That means that the Bucs got within field goal range eleven times but couldn't punch it into the endzone. Keep in mind that the team went 1 of 4 in those games and lost two of them by ten combined points. If you're playing an obviously superior team and kicking field goals, you're doing all right. If you're playing San Francisco, Carolina and Houston and kicking field goals, you have a fear of success. I'm grateful that the Bucs have a clutch kicker like Bryant to bail them out of offensive jams. I'm worried that they have to use him so often.

Matt Bryant is officially four-foot-ten.
