Division Is Still Tight

NFL “experts” call the NFC South one of the weakest divisions. Even though only one team is above .500, this division is the tightest in all of football, and won’t be decided until the final weeks.

The Bucs gained leverage yesterday with a Carolina and New Orleans loss, but those losses won’t give the Bucs a lot of breathing room. With a Buccaneer loss and a Carolina or New Orleans win on Sunday, there will be a tie for first place in the division. The Bucs are 5-4, the Panthers and Saints 4-5, and the Falcons are 3-6. Only one game separates the last place team from the second and third place teams, and only two games separates them from the first place team.

The Bucs are rested, coming off of a bye week, but they will play the Falcons, who have the momentum of a two-game win streak. The Bucs will be returning Michael Pittman, giving them the 1-2 punch of the running game, a big advantage for them over the Falcons.

One thing is sure however. Call this division as weak as you want, but it is the most competitive. The final week(s) will decide the champion of the South.
