Boring Game Results In Boring, And Yet Still Somehow Frustrating, Win

The defensive line kept Kurt Warner off balance for most of the game, so that's good. But you'd think that with absolutely no running game going for them that the linemen would be able to commit themselves to getting to the quarterback and posting a couple sacks. I'm a little worried that they got none for the game.

Of course, the Bucs defense wasn't out there very long, so that may have something to do with it.

Jermaine Phillips and Tanard Jackson are quickly becoming the best safety pair in the NFL. This was a great game for them despite the gift interception Phillips was given. Whoever overruled the back judge is going to have some explaining to do to Mike Pereira.

I watched Joey Galloway's touchdown catch a couple times and still don't see how he took the ball from the defender. It was an amazing display of concentration.

Again, the drops are frustrating. Both Ike Hilliard and Alex Smith dropped passes that hit them in the chest. If the Bucs had somehow lost this game, Smith's dropped touchdown would have been the turning point. He should call Jackie Smith and see how he dealt with it. Oh, right, he retired in disgrace despite a Hall of Fame career. Catch the balls you should catch, people!

Arron Sears had a fantastic game and was the lead blocker for most of Earnest Graham's yards. Still, a false start penalty when you're lined up right next to the ball is irritating.

Two of Garcia's three sacks came because Davin Joseph was beaten. Darnell Dockett, who lined up over Joseph, had two sacks, three quarterback hurries and also ten tackles. Some games he's on and some he just drops. This one he dropped big time.

Because of his 35 yard kickoff return, I'd be willing to give Micheal Spurlock another chance in the next game.

What the hell happened to Matt Bryant? I don't fault him for missing the 58-yarder, but floating a 26-yarder? I looked carefully and the snap and hold were both good.

I love it when offensive guys tackle well on special teams. Maurice Stovall hit Steve Breaston right in the sternum with his helmet. Full speed. I'm surprised Breaston can still breathe.

Ok, it was a win. Yeah! and all that. But the Bucs had the ball for over 43 minutes of the game. That's unheard of, but they still only got 17 points out of it. They still have a problem with penalties and missed opportunities. How could a game that the Bucs dominated so thoroughly come down to the final minutes? The team needs to use the bye to fix some of the fundamentals and eliminate the penalties. That would go a long way toward cleaning the game up and maybe getting their heads on straight for the rest of the season. 5-4 is pretty good, but the Saints have won 4 in a row and it looks like they are the team to beat in the South now instead of the Panthers.

Can a white guy be named 'Urban'? Tanard Jackson didn't think so, so he knocked out Urban's teeth.
