Vinny’s Agent Is A Freakin’ Genius

Despite his best efforts to retire, Vinny Testaverde signed with the Panthers today and will backup David Carr and possibly Matt Moore. And by "backup", I mean he will show up to games dressed in his uniform.
I hated Testaverde when he was in Tampa, but he totally has my respect these days. How can you not love a 43-year old guy who, year after year, gets paid $750,000 to stay in shape, be a mentor to some young whippersnapper and not fall into a coma ("french toast, please")? His agent, Michael Azzarelli, deserves some kind of medal from AARP to recognize him for his ongoing efforts in keeping seniors gainfully employed. How does he keep getting teams to sign him? He had, really, one excellent season with the Jets in 1998. That's it. Take that season away and you could find fruit plates that had better football careers than him. Shit, Drew Bledsoe has about the same lifetime stats and has six less years of wear on his tires. He couldn't be coaxed out of retirement before they signed Vinny? Azzarelli is azzar-awesome.
