Chris Simms: Still Injured

The Bucs need to make some roster room for a new running back and instead of releasing a player, they're going to finally put Chris Simms on injured reserve. The Times didn't hesitate to take this opportunity to rehash the Simms health issue from August.

Moving Simms to injured reserve, meaning he is out for the season, would seem to contradict [Bruce] Allen's claim during training camp that Simms' "arm is not an issue. His health is not an issue." In fact, he indicated at the time that Simms was not a candidate for injured reserve.

I wonder what whiny bitch holds a grudge for two months about Bruce Allen not being completely up front about the inner-office dealings of the football team. At least he didn't use the word "proprioception" in the story.

Word on the street is that the Bucs will sign ancient fullback Zach Crockett to the roster today. The above article speculates that they will use Crockett as a fullback and have B.J. Askew run the ball more. I hope this makes sense to someone because I'm fucking lost on this one. Askew has carried the ball a total of 27 times in five years. He has a grand total of 102 yards to his credit. He was doing great as the fullback. Why not sign a real halfback that at least has some experience in carrying the ball? Maybe they want to give Earnest Graham and Kenneth Darby a chance before losing a player or a draft pick to trade, and I suppose that's a good thing. But Tennessee has the #3 rushing defense in the league right now. How likely is it that the Bucs' third and fourth string running backs are going to be successful?

I can't find any game shots of Crockett except him getting carted off the field. These weird press shots are all there are of him. And they're signing him?
