- If Tony Ugoh's wife gives birth to a daughter and they don't have a name for her right away, she will officially be called "Ugoh girl" by the hospital.
- In four years with the Colts, quarterback Jim Sorgi has a 5/1 TD/INT ratio and completes 65.6% of his passes. Watch out for this guy.
- Tony Dungy is working on a children's book "about a class clown who finds inspiration to follow his dreams." And, really, who knows more about being a class clown and goofing around than Tony Dungy?
- Dwight Freeney has one sack in four games, putting him on pace to have four sacks this year. He was given $30 million in guaranteed bonuses, making each sack worth $7.5 million. By comparison, Jovan Haye is on pace to have eight sacks this year with a salary of $435,000, making each sack worth $54,375.
- Peyton Manning has a children's hospital named after him. Not a wing, not a floor... an entire hospital. Does that mean he can walk in and swipe a handful of Percocet and smack a random nurse on the ass anytime he wants? Hell yeah it does.
Ok, we all know what the Colts can do on offense. The only Manning to achieve anything is likely the best quarterback on the planet, blah blah blah. But the Bucs' #2 scoring defense matches up well against the Colts' #3 scoring offense. The part that concerns me is the front four. Oh, they've been doing pretty good. But they haven't been putting consistent pressure on the quarterback, and that will be absolutely essential on Sunday. I say if the defensive line doesn't show that they can hit Manning early, blitz like there's no tomorrow. If Manning has enough time to scan the field and release the ball comfortably, he's going to get the ball to his receiver regardless of what kind of coverage the Bucs are running. As Dan Marino once said, there is no defense against a perfect pass. And Manning throws a lot of perfect passes.
The key for the Buc offense to take advantage of every single scoring opportunity. No punting! Well, maybe that's pushing it. But you get what I'm saying. With the Colts' weakened secondary and linebackers, the standard Cover 2 holes should be open. Jeff Garcia should just take them, control the clock and move methodically down the field. Field goals are ok, just keep scoring. A few three-and-outs will give the Colts offense too much opportunity to get ahead, and the Bucs aren't a team that comes from behind. But I don't think they'll have to. Bucs by 3.
