Derrick Brooks Won’t Be Baited Into An Argument

You have to love Derrick Brooks and the way he responds to criticism. He won't get dragged into the fray or start a bunch of trash-talking and he won't rattle off a mouthful of boastful nonsense like so many others do when their play is called into question. I think he really, truly gives no shits what anyone else says about him.

"I don't think I have (lost a step)," Brooks said. "But ... that's my opinion. I respect everyone else's opinion as a human being, but to me, it's all subjective. That's why I really don't get into the argument or buy into it when someone says somebody else lost a step."

That still doesn't mean he should be on the field for every single defensive play. It's just nice to hear a firmly grounded football player speak with humility once in a while.
