Five Things You Didn't Know About The Seahawks
- The Seahawks gave Patrick Kerney a six year, $39.5 million contract this year despite the fact that his sacks have declined over the past three seasons and he missed seven games in 2006. On an unrelated note, new secondary coach Jim Mora recently purchased a new BMW for every member of his family.
- Mack Strong's original leather helmet is on display for a limited time in the Hall of Fame.
- Matt Hasselbeck married Sarah Egnaczyk in 2000. Her name is an anagram for "Crazy Snake Hag" which, ironically, has been his sister-in-law's nickname since childhood.
- Mike Holmgren doesn't like you. I don't like you, either. You just watch yourself. We're wanted men. I have the death sentence on twelve systems.
- Jim Zorn played his last professional game as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. True story.
Last year, Seattle bucked the trend of the Super Bowl loser falling out of the playoffs the following year. I assume the football gods did this because the Seahawks really got shafted out of a Super Bowl win in 2005. But they showed what they're made of last year when they won their only playoff game thanks to Seahawks MVP, Tony Romo and his suspiciously slippery fingers. The following week they were beaten by the leg of Robbie Gould, an honorary Osmond, and sent home to bolster Seattle's legendary suicide rate. What did they do to improve this year? They traded away their leading receiver and franchised their kicker. The Seahawks won last year after Tampa Bay had already pissed away their season. They have something to play for this time. Bucs by 4.
