Bucs Continue To Tinker With The Roster

The Buccaneers made a few more roster moves and assembled their practice squad yesterday. First, they claimed wide receiver Taye Biddle off waivers from Carolina and cornerback Anthony Madison from Pittsburgh. To make room on the roster for these guys, the Bucs released Leon Joe and Sammy Davis. The reasoning to claim Madison must have been that he, an undrafted rookie out of Alabama, was better than Davis who was a first round pick. After following Davis in camp, I am inclined to agree. I don't know anything about Biddle, but I assume his status between the active roster, the practice squad and the waiver wire will fluctuate as the season goes on.

Speaking of the practice squad, is currently consists of Kenneth Darby, Marcus Hamilton, Keith Heinrich, Chad Lucas, Enoka Lucas, Dennis Roland and Byron Storer, all from this season's camp.

You ready for the biggest news?

Jeremiah Trotter is about to join the Buccaneers. My question is, why would they sign him now and not wait until after week one when his salary won't be guaranteed? Monte Kiffin isn't so concerned about the position, is he? The other question is who they will release to make room? If they're content having six linebackers, they'll probably let Adam Hayward go and hope he clears waivers so they can put him on the practice squad. It may also be that Patrick Chukwurah will start the season on the PUP list after tearing his MCL, which will make him a roster exemption for six weeks.
