Tampa Bay Bucs Shopping WR Michael Clayton, HAH!

Published: August 29th, 2007

The Bucs Beat has confirmed that the Bucs are indeed Shopping WR Michael Clayton and have officially put him on the Trading Block. Stop Laughing let me finish. The Bucs Beat continues to say that the Bucs have a "Glut of Receivers" and that Clayton may have the highest value as he "has fallen behind Joey Galloway, Maurice Stovall, David Boston and Ike Hilliard on the depth chart." No, No stop laughing, you read that right ..... Who in their right mind would call the Bucs about a Receiver who can't beat out the likes of Stovall (who disappeared in the PreSeason), Boston (who has been out of the league for years), and Hilliard (who lets be honest, is no where near a #2 Receiver). WoW and I thought we were lacking Wide Receivers. Apparently we have a surplus of Wide Receivers. I guess that does happen when you have 5 Spots open and you have 6 or more Good Receivers. Hmmm, As our little world turns. How many calls do you think GM Bruce Allen received? None? Good Guess, but the Lions DID draft another Receiver this year, maybe they need another? Chris Simms to Bruce Gradkowski: Thanks Buddie

Sooooo QB Chris Simms may make it through the second wave of cuts expected to be handed out this Saturday, September the 1st. 3rd String QB Bruce Gradkowski has recently been fingered (grow up, no GROW up, okay okay, snicker if you must) in an ESPN.com article as having potentially taken part in a POINT SHAVING SCANDEL while he played collegiate ball at Toledo .... Has this been a productive off-season for Bucs Fans or what? My goodness, it's like we can't enjoy one week of the off-season without a player sticking it to the organization. If you must read the article up above go ahead, but all you really need to read is the quote below: Read the rest of this story »

Gradkowski mentioned in point-shaving article

Bucs backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski is mentioned in an ESPN.com article about a football and men's basketball point-shaving investigation that could generate federal charges at Toledo, where Gradkowski played quarterback from 2003-05.

Authorities have not spoken about Gradkowski's possible connection, but sources told ESPN.com FBI investigators are examining his playing time in a number of games under scrutiny as they follow up on an allegation that the manager of a family-owned grocery story in Detroit had offered a Toledo player $10,000 to sit out particular games, the story says.

You Know What This Team Could Really Use? Another Linebacker.

Published: August 29th, 2007
By Bucstats.com weblog

Does the Tampa Bay front office get a bonus or something for having double-digit linebackers on the team? I guess they need enough bodies to survive the last preseason game and they'll all get dumped anyway, but the Buccaneers are turning into a linebacker orphanage.

In the process of getting down to 75 players, the team released punter Sean Douglas and put tight end Matt Herian and guard Jeb Terry on IR. But that left them with an open roster spot which they quickly plugged with a linebacker the Bears waived, Leon Joe.

Don't be surprised by the report on the NFL Network that the Bucs are shopping receiver Michael Clayton.

It's the time of year when those discussions are held throughout the league. As the Saturday deadline nears for teams to trim their roster to 53 players, the Bucs have a glut of receivers they like so they're looking for value.

Being a BIG TIME New York Mets fan, I'm used to thinking and expecting the worse (If you made it through the Art Howe days, you are a warrior!!!). Add the fact that I'm a Tampa Bay Bucs fan and can attest to the Trent Dilfer days, let's just say I've been through a couple rough patches (so I'm a glutton for loser franchises, moving on) ..... Bucs Cuts Are Done…For Now

Published: August 28th, 2007
By Buccaneer Harbour
The Bucs finished getting their roster down to 75 by placing Terry and Matt Herian on IR, while also picking up LB Leon Joe. Jeb Terry is really the only notable player in the roster moves to get down to 75, and he's just going on IR, as opposed to be cut. The rest of the cuts really had no names of note, save Chad Owens, who failed to unseat Mark Jones for the return duties. Of course, Jones isn't a lock to make the squad either.
