Someone Should Call Tim Dwight

Former Detroit kick returner/wide receiver Eddie Drummond visited Tampa Bay last Friday after the Lions released him. He left without a contract, but maybe not because one wasn't offered to him.

Before coming to Kansas City on Saturday for a physical, he met with Tampa Bay head coach Jon Gruden, and considered a contract with the Buccaneers.

That seems to imply that the Bucs extended a contract offer that Drummond rejected. Which would mean that as recently as Friday, they were looking to upgrade their return game. Mark Jones turned in a decent game on Saturday night against the Dolphins, but as a whole he has not been anything special and has been non-existent as a receiver in the regular season.

If the team is serious about having their players work in multiple roles and not using roster spots for return specialists, they might want to look at Tim Dwight, who was just released from the Jets yesterday. Dwight has been effective as both a returner and a receiver. He is a better kick returner than a punt returner, but the team has other options to return punts (Phillip Buchanon comes to mind.) Dwight also has five returns for touchdowns in his career, which is five more than Jones has. In the end, Jones won't be used as a receiver, but Dwight would, saving the roster spot for someone else.

However, Jones, being a Tennessee man, would never have posed for this picture.

Admit it... for a second you thought it was Jeff Garcia. Shame on you.

That's how you know I'm serious. I have to think of the team and advocate (no pun) replacing Jones with Dwight despite Dwight's best efforts to resemble a gay version of one of those ridiculous hairless cats.
