Luke Petitgout practiced again.
Michael Pittman lead blocking for B.J. Askew? Did I miss a meeting?
Speaking of Pittman, Quincy Black knocked him backwards when he was lead blocking. That's no small feat. Black was dominant during the morning practice.
Actually, the defense was all over the field in the morning. The offense never had a chance. Passes were being deflected, runs were being stuffed and even the quarterback/center exchange was botched.
Luke McCown did, though, get some good passes off to Michael Clayton, Alex Smith, Jerramy Stevens and David Boston.
Starting nickel defense looks like this: Greg Spires, Kevin Carter, Chris Hovan, Patrick Chukwurah, Derrick Brooks, Barrett Ruud, Ronde Barber, Brian Kelly, Phillip Buchanon, Will Allen, Jermaine Phillips.
Sabby Piscitelli left early to ice down a hamstring. Between missing the preseason game and now this, he really is giving Phillips every opportunity to keep his starting job.
I saw this report from camp: "On the very last play of practice, QB Bruce Gradkowski hit Chad Owens on a very deep pass down the right hashmarks." To me, this is akin to spotting bigfoot. I had heard the rumors, but never expected to get confirmed evidence of a completed Gradkowski deep ball.
