Monday Training Camp Summary

Sabby Piscitelli did not practice on Monday because of "sore lowers", which sounds vaguely pornographic. He will be held out of the Patriots game, as will Luke Petitgout. Barrett Ruud was also held out on Monday, but will probably play on Friday.

The receivers worked on their sideline catches and keeping their feet in bounds. Ike Hilliard and Chas Gessner looked especially sharp. Speaking of Gessner, he was seen throwing the ball at Cato June after June rode him out of bounds. There was some smack talk but Shelton Quarles got between them before a fight broke out. You know how you can confirm there was no fight? Gesser is still able to walk. "Hampty Hamps" does not earn you street cred, sir.

David Boston had a pair of nice catches during the one-on-ones.

Chris Simms threw a lot on the wide receiver drills, but none of the group drills.

Cadillac Williams is starting to drop passes more frequently.

Gaines Adams worked quite a bit on the left side today. Greg Spires probably still has that position locked up as the starter, but Monte Kiffin wants to have some flexibility in his line. If he can keep a rotation of guys that can play multiple positions well, he can keep them fresh throughout a game. Kevin Carter can play any position on the line and was used everywhere on Monday. Carter, by the way... still fast. He chased down a play from the opposite side of the line.

We finally saw the 3-4 in camp. It was Carter, Chris Hovan and Spires on the line and the linebackers were Cato June, Derrick Brooks, Ryan Nece and Quincy Black.

Afternoon practice was all special teams again. The group practiced recovering on side kicks. Jerramy Stevens and Sam Olajubutu stood out during those drills.

I wish I knew how to quit you.
