FanNation Employees Are Dumb

FanNation, the somehow-ESPN-endorsed site for sports rumors and breaking stories, is essentially just a collection of excerpts from local newspaper sites gathered together for convenience. But the understanding is that they are quoting real news articles and not bullshit. Today they reported that the Bucs are still waiting on Jake Plummer to make up his mind. From the article:
The Bucs have left the light on for Jake Plummer but for how long? Word is, Bucs coach Jon Gruden and his trusty tracker, GM Bruce Allen, have ditched their own vacation plans to expand the search for the missing quarterback. Allen and Plummer had been in contact, but, well, who knows with flighty Jake.
You might think it's an interesting development that the two highest ranking Buccaneers canceled their vacations to track down a retired quarterback. But the excerpt is from a Martin Fennelly article that follows Gruden and Allen to, among other places, Pampalona, Easter Island, the Amazon rain forest, and Mount Everest. In other words, it's a spoof article. One of the chair-moisteners at FanNation read only up to the point where he thought he had an adequate excerpt, not noticing that in the next paragraph Gruden had some tusked animal running the 40 in Kentucky. I can only assume that employee died while driving back home because he only read the top halves of traffic signs.
In fact, Jon Gruden took his vacation in Utah this year. He stopped long enough to be interviewed and lament on the fact that the Bucs didn't win the Super Bowl by a wider margin. He contended that the score should have been 51-14 because of the botched field goal and the upheld Jerry Porter touchdown. I forget where I saw this interview, but it's absolutely true.
