Keyshawn Really Didn’t Want To Play Football

According to CNNSI, Keyshawn Johnson turned down a two-year, $8 million deal to play for the Tennessee Titans. That's well above what I figured he would have been offered. Tennessee needs a replacement for Drew Bennett and they were apparently willing to pay for the mistake of letting him go to St. Louis. But according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Keyshawn was asking for a two-year $12 million deal to play for the Titans, an amount they would never pay. I mean, Marvin Harrison will earn $4 million in 2007. And he's Marvin freakin' Harrison.
This can only lead me to believe that Keyshawn intentionally priced himself out of the market so he could justify the decision to himself to retire from the game. It's the "stupid money" corollary to the list of jobs we don't want. Think of an occupation you really don't want to do. I mean, you really don't want this job. Nothing weird or immoral; just very, very unpleasant. Now, would you do that job for $6 million? Welcome to Keyshawn Johnson's brain. He saw training camp coming up in a couple months and if he was going to put himself through that, he needed a deal that he simply could not turn down.
So, welcome to ESPN, Keyshawn. You are now filling the loudmouth ex-wide receiver role recently vacated by Michael Irvin, except you have better suits than he does. And I'm guessing you're smarter than Irvin. Of course, I'm guessing a retarded panda is smarter than Irvin, too, so take it for what it's worth. Good luck.
