Tanard Jackson Cornerback err Safety Syracuse #36

Jackson's versatility could help him see the field sooner than many think. The 6-foot, 200-pound prospect out of Syracuse was asked by Head Coach Jon Gruden and Secondary Coach Raheem Morris to change positions right before a critical spotlight game in the heavily NFL scouted "Senior Bowl." Tanard met that challenge with open arms:

"I adjusted and I think I did well at the Senior Bowl," Jackson said. "If I didn't, I wouldn't be here right now."

Heres Tanard's senior numbers 57 tackles, 4.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks, and two picks on the year. Jackson was widely viewed as one of the Top Cornerbacks in the entire NFL Draft, but two instances from college may have potentially hurt his Draft status. The instances consisted of him getting stabbed in an altercation as a sophmore and the other consisted of him being suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team." Tanard has been described as a very "Physical" Player and a great Run Stopper. His Achilles heel appears to be his lack of speed, which if he converts to Safety, shouldn't be much of a deterrent to his career. Both coaches are extremely intrigued by this Tanard, Morris describes Jackson's instincts and physical approach as:

"Violent at the moment of impact." Gruden says, "This guy's a football player,"

Look for Tanard Jackson and Sabby Piscitelli to battle each other for playing time on the field. They could both very well line-up at Safety in '08.
