Rising Up To The Challenge Of Our Rival

So, out of the kindness of my generous (and humble) heart, I thought I'd give my buddy Ski a chance to redeem himself after his agonizing defeat in our Super Bowl wager by making a bet that I would throw. By betting on the Bucs' first selection of the draft and giving him the upper hand by letting him pick first, I would surely be left with the distant runner-up and would lose handily, giving my good friend (who I will probably never meet in person) the vicory while simultaneously completing my charitable work for the year (though it doesn't count toward my community service... I checked.)

Then Ski selected Calvin Johnson. Which means he either assumed that Jon Gruden would willfully throw away the future of the Buccaneers and trade away several premium picks for the chance to draft his man-crush, or that Matt Millen really does care about his public image and would not select yet another wide receiver in the first round and instead address the more glaring and obvious deficiencies on the Lions' team. And, really, what were the chances of that? This left the window open for me to pick the obvious choice of Gaines Adams and the rest, as they say, is history.

As always, the bet is for an entry on the other's site conceding defeat and verbally fellating the winner. Here is his:

Damn, I stand before you humbled and humiliated.....once again. Scott has my number like Michael Jordan's Bulls against the Jazz, sure I may have the better track record but when the tires hit the road I'm left watching Scott rise up for the winning jumper from the top of the key. So congrats to Scott for successfully predicting the Bucs' 2007 first round draft pick. At this rate one has to wonder if Scott's skills would better be applied somewhere else, like say.....One Buc Place.

So here are a few of the reasons Scott would make a better coach than Gruden...

1.) Knows Alstott's first name
2.) Would have gone to the shotgun in Year One
3.) Has also appeared in People Magazine's "100 Most Beautiful People" List
4.) Would not have cut Griese (Oh wait, he supported the move)
4b.) Prefers creamsicle jerseys to current pewter and red ones
5.) Would have drafted Major Applewhite over Chris Simms

Anyway, kudos again to Scott. I hope you finally get that pony for Christmas.

Of course, when he says I belong at One Buc Place, I know he means the old one that has been left abandoned except for the large rats and black racers that call it home. But that's ok. A concession is a concession, so who am I to quibble over things like intent or punctuation? So, thanks pal. I'm looking forward to next time already.

And don't forget to plant your victory garden.
