Why Veterans Dread The Draft

The other shoe officially dropped on the Tampa Bay defense today as Juran Bolden along with four other players were released. The Bucs added six defensive players through the draft over the weekend and dropped four today. Gruce giveth, and Gruce taketh away.
The Bucs withdrew a qualifying offer to cornerback/safety Blue Adams and released safety Tra Boger, long-snapper Adam Johnson and defensive tackle Kenny Smith.
I can see releasing Bolden, even though he was pretty good against the run. He wasn't what you would call a playmaker. Withdrawing that offer for Adams, though, seems a little premature. Adams was an up-and-comer at safety, a spot where the Bucs need to fortify their depth, not thin it out. He was also good on special teams. Maybe Gaines Adams didn't want to have the extra "G" on his jersey.
Plus, his name is Blue. How cool is that? When he was young, did they call him Little Boy Blue? And if so, is that why he became a safety? So he could take out his repressed aggressions on total strangers by knocking the shit out of receivers coming across the middle? Have I totally lost track of why I started this entry in the first place?
