Follow-up To The Bucs/Lions Rumor

Looks like PFT shot their story off prematurely because now they're saying the deal is dead (read: they were guessing.) Thanks to commenter "WTF" for the tip. Won't bother linking to PFT, but here's the story:
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the trade talks between the Lions and Buccaneers for a flip-flop of the No. 2 overall pick and the No. 4 overall pick are dead. For now.
I like the "for now", which gives them the right to say "See?!? We told you so!" if any deal between the Lions and Bucs takes place. Now, here's the part that will piss off Bucs fans who want to see Calvin Johnson in pewter:
We recently heard that if no trade is accomplished before noon on April 28 and if receiver Calvin Johnson is available at No. 2, the Lions would select him and then trade his rights to the highest bidder.
Pretty much the same thing the New York Giants did to get Eli Manning in 2004. The Giants got Manning and the Chargers got Phillip Rivers, Shawn Merriman, Nate Kaeding and Roman Oben. Who got the better end of that deal? (note: if you answered the Giants, you are a dipshit.) The rise and fall of this rumor today has made me officially apathetic to any more trade talk. There is guaranteed to be someone good available at #4. Just pick him and be done with it.
