Falcons Sign Harrington… And It Doesn’t Matter At All

ESPN.com is reporting that the Falcons just signed Joey Harrington as the backup to Michael Vick. If you're keeping track at home, this means that the Falcons have gone from having a backup who, for some reason, everyone thought was great despite a brief and spotty history to a backup who everyone knows for a fact is marginal at best.

One could make the argument that Harrington got raw deals in Detroit and Miami because of all the instability on the teams and the coaching staffs. And if you are one of those delusional people, you can't be feeling good about his trip to Atlanta and rookie head coach Bobby Petrino's sweeping changes to the team. The Falcons have been in constant flux ever since Dan Reeves had his heart attack. Not a good situation for a quarterback who desperately needs some firm ground to stand on in order to develop.

Poor Joey, he wanted to be the next Norm Van Brocklin and now it looks like he's the next A.J. Feeley. Either way, as a Bucs fan, this is a non-issue.

Hey Joey, how much playing time will you see in 2007?
