Bucs release Bolden among others

Published: April 30th, 2007
By Buc 'Em
The Bucs Beat is reporting the Tampa Bay Bucs have released a number of players one day after completing it's 2007 NFL Draft. Of the bunch, CB Juren Bolden is the most heralded athlete/contributer, the others cut consist of:

CB Blue Adams
S Tra Boger
LS Adam Johnson
DT Kenny Smith

Bolden shouldnt be missed with the additions of CB Sammy Davis, CB Phillip Buchanon, and recently Drafted CB Marcus Hamilton. Blue Adams was a contributer on Special Teams, but with the new additions via the Draft, he became expendable. Boger, Johnson, and Smith were all signed this off-season, thus we'll never know what we lost, heh. Good Luck fellas!!

Bucs Whack Bolden

Juran Bolden, CB, along with a few other players of no note, was released from the team today to make room for FA's they plan to sign that weren't drafted. With the Bucs now stacked at the corner position, the Bucs probably felt that Bolden was no longer in their future plans. Remember that they now have Barber, Kelly, Buchannon, Davis, Cox, Zemaitis, and their draft pick Hamilton (along with some guy named Hendricks). Needless to say, the backfield was busting at the seams. The Bucs aren't likely to go into the season with more than 5, maybe 6 corners.

Opinions Run Rampant on the Bucs

From the Message Boards:

Jerramy Stevens will be a work for the coaching staff.  If there is one thing most disappointing about the Gruden offense is the lack of using tight ends to run seam routes.  I think it’s a little bit handicapped because with the crappy offensive line the Bucs have had, the tight ends are used more as blockers than as receivers.

It’s A Far Cry From The Draft We Thought We’d Inherit

Wasn't this supposed to be the most important offseason in Buccaneer history? It seems like last weekend's draft would have made a bigger impression on me if it was. Don't get me wrong, I think the Bucs got better in a lot of defensive areas. But it just all seemed so... average. Here's what I currently think of each player they picked and I'll follow it up with some general notes.

Adams, who was introduced this morning in Tampa, said the release of information from supposed confidential interviews hit him hard not only because of its potential impact on his draft status, but because he cares deeply about a reputation he said he has worked for.
